An apparently the religion thing kicked in in like his 5th year as pharaoh or something.
On this dvd there are two experts which talk about the art style and how the religion influenced it. Anyways it talks about the art for while and then they make a point referring to the feminine qualities of the style and suggest (well more decide) that this was because Aki was trying to represent himself as Aten's son, and because Aten is supposed to be neither man nor woman, or both (like our God is supposed to be) he is represented in such a way. This seems to explain the reason why the nude statue of him hasn't got a penis!!!!
YAY something different! = controversy!!
They also reiterated the point that the pharaoh was portrayed as loving and the example was the tomb of his kid who died in which it depicts him in the stage of grief. Never before had a pharaoh been depicted in a stage of weakness.
The experts on the dvd's also suggested that the art was almost like a form of advertising for the rejection of the limitations of the traditional everything.
This is all for now, but i'll have to re-watch the dvd for particulars for my project and stuff in general.
